Mona Xmas Tournament 2008

By Louise Hughes

Div3
Valley Dog Squad
Kim, Cassie, Daniel, Molly
Box: Dave
Place: 2nd

Everybody did really well in the morning, they won all their races and most of the legs, but were dissapointed in the afternoon when they lost 1 race, loosing the 1st that we all had our hopes on getting. All the dogs ran beautifully without mistake or any naughtiness, it was a lovely day for good clean running with our only loss coming down to speed alone, so it was good racing today- well done to everyone!

Div4
Valley Hound Dogs
Max, Freddie, Roxy & Tumble.
Box: Dave
Place: 2nd

Again, they won all the races in the morningand most of the legs. By lunchtime we had high hopes of getting a first for at least one team, but again we were dissapointed when we were beaten by one race in the afternoon. Both teams did really well, not a paw out of place all day. Hound dogs had a couple of mishaps with dropping the ball by the box, but all accidental and really they all deserved to do really well as they were so well behaved.

Div5
Valley Odd dogs
Dodge, Scruffy, Nuggett, Panda, Toby, Jo-Jo.
Box: Suzanne
Place 3rd

This was the first sanctioned tournament for Toby, Nuggett, Panda and Dodge. Our seed time was 3 seconds faster than our actual fastest time on the day so we did very well to come 3rd! What can I say about this team except "What a suprising day!!". Dogs who have refused to run properly before ran like pro's and the dogs that have taken to flyball brilliantly at training couldn't quite understand the point of a competition! Unfortunately Jo-Jo and Panda had both decided that bringing the ball back and/or running back over the jumps was probably a little too much hard work! Jo-Jo got it together in the afternoon, and I believe that Panda has promised Andrea that he will try very hard at training and be brilliant again for January. Dodge who has never taken the ball from the box in three years has all of a sudden decided to trigger the box and was wonderful and consistent as well as being a "height dog". Toby, who has never run in a team (although seems to end up in most photos!) or even run properly was also consistent, he managed to change with other dogs without having done this before and only got a bit confused when we changed lanes! Nuggett did well with a bit of help from a very patient Danielle. I think that although they weren't the fastest team on the day, we had the most fun with them and I really think that we gave everyone watching a bit of Christmas cheer.
